Yana North Cork Domestic Violence Project have been working in East
Cork since *. Originally the service was set up
as a Domestic Violence Project and in * this
expanded to include a Sexual Violence Service. The East Cork Service
is based in Youghal with our sister service based in Mallow in North
Cork.
The Sexual Violence Support Worker would be based in our Youghal
office but would work with clients throughout all of East Cork. The
position is * hours per week which will be
spread across * days between Monday to Friday.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
* Working with clients who have identified that they have been a
victim of Sexual violence / assault.
* Client appointments will be face to face and on a one to one
basis, including outreach appointments throughout East Cork where
required.
* To provide emotional and practical support including form filling.
* Accompaniment Service to Court , the Sexual Assault Treatment
Unit, Gardai or other relevant agencies.
* To refer clients to appropriate agencies who can also offer
support.
* Record and document all relevant information including
accompaniments and safety plans.
* To attend all training as required by the Project Co-ordinator.
* To advocate for clients when appropriate
* To build relationships with relevant agencies including but not
limited to the Gardai, Sexual Assault Treatment Unit and Court
services.
* To represent Yana at local forums, fundraisers, agency meetings
and all other relevant services.
* To attend regular staff meetings in the Youghal and occasionally
Mallow office
* To provide regular oral and written reports
* To attend monthly supervision with the Project Co-ordinator and
external supervision with an approved supervisor.
* Maintain high levels of confidentiality
The successful applicant with be responsible to the Project
Co-ordinator. All offers will be subject to garda vetting.
